During January fourth and fifth grade teachers asked their students questions from National Geographic which were organized into seven rounds. Each class sent two representatives, who answered the most questions correctly, to compete in the Final Round. The field of fourteen classroom representatives was quickly whittled down to three students and eventually Dominic F. answered correctly to become the first finalist. After many more questions and answers Grace R. became the second finalist. Dominic and Grace went head-to -head in the Championship Round and kept tying. They both showed great courage and perseverance answering many questions. In the end Grace R. won Hampton’s Geography Bee. After the results of a test she took are analyzed, she may be invited to the state competition on April 6. If she competes and wins in the state competition she will compete with other state winners from across the nation for a $50,000 scholarship and a trip! Let’s all wish her luck!
